All the information gathered on the form is to help the massage therapist maximize the benefits of your massage session. Don’t worry massage therapist are bound by HIPPAA, so all your information is keep confidential. Be honest on the form there can be reasons a massage cannot be given.
After the intake form is done, your massage therapist will review it and ask you few more in-depth questions. For example, “Does the pain in your neck travel down your back?” These questions are also to make the most of your time on the massage table.
The massage therapist will then show you a room were the massage will be conducted. Most of the time there will be relaxing music playing and dim lights. They will step out so you can get undressed to your comfort level and get under the sheets on the massage table. What is get undressed to your comfort level? It’s the level of clothing you feel comfortable taking off for the massage. Please keep in mind that you will be covered by the sheet or draping at all time and the only exposed area will be what the massage therapist is working on.
Now keep in mind once you are on the table you have done just about everything that you need to do for the next 60 minutes. It’s time for you to take deep breaths, let go of the stress and relax.
The massage therapist will knock and enter the room to start the massage. During the massage the therapist will check in and ask you how the pressure is. Answer honestly if it painful and or uncomfortable let them know.
There may be a point in the massage when you will also be asked to roll over. The therapist will hold the sheets in place and you can move over.
When the massage session is over the therapist will step out and allow you to get dressed. Make sure you get up slowly. Massage releases chemicals in your body that can cause you to feel wonderful and relaxed but sometimes a little light headed. And don’t forget to set up your next appointment.
